Managing warehouses

If you are managing a multi-warehouse operation, you can add records for each warehouse that includes a warehouse contact and address. See Adding a warehouse and Editing a warehouse.

Once you have set up your warehouse records, you can view your inventory by a specific warehouse, or across all warehouses. See Viewing the correct warehouse data.

You can also set the reorder point for a specific inventory item by warehouse. See Warehouses in relation to item masters.

The following record types are created and viewed across all warehouses:

  • Item Masters
  • Business affiliates, such as Customers and Vendors
  • Users

This means that if you create an item master or customer, users can view that record regardless which warehouse they have selected.

The following record types are warehouse-specific:

  • Locations - You must set up locations for each warehouse. See Creating locations.
  • Purchase Orders - A purchase order created for a warehouse can only be received into that warehouse.
  • Receipts - You need to have a specific warehouse selected to create a receipt.
  • Shipments - You need to have a specific warehouse selected to create a shipment.
  • License Numbers - You need to have a specific warehouse selected to create a license number.

Sales orders can be either created and viewed across all warehouses, or created and viewed in a specific warehouse. The Warehouse field in the sales order header determines in which warehouse(s) sales orders are available. See Creating sales orders.
