Understanding permissionsIf you are the "Default SmartTurn Administrator" for SmartTurn in your company, you create and manage users within SmartTurn, and you grant secure and appropriate access to individual users by using roles. Depending on your company's needs, this can be as simple as accepting the default roles SmartTurn has configured, or as detailed as customizing a role for each user in your operation. Roles are the primary way SmartTurn designates permissions for users to access specific functionality and to see specific data. In managing users, you will be assigning roles to them. SmartTurn has configured a set of default roles, which you can use as is, modify for your operation, or ignore entirely and opt to create new roles. Warehouses are the spatial domains through which SmartTurn segments users within your operation. When you create users, you will assign permissions for one or more warehouses that correspond to where the user works. Agents are businesses--customers, vendors, carriers, logistics providers, owners, inventory planners--that you specify as your A user's total set of permissions will be the sum of all of his assigned roles filtered for his assigned warehouses, operating within his Agents (specific business affiliates), and the current statuses of those roles and Agents. The diagram below illustrates the way these filters are applied.
