Inventory reporting for wave fulfillment

You can monitor the inventory that is being picked in your wave by running reports against inventory.

In a Pick to Staging Wave:

  • Inventory that is in the Transit Locations:
    • has been picked from its Original Location but not yet delivered to its Destination Location (the forward or staging location);
    • the pick ticket items have been Pick Started but not Pick Finished
  • Inventory that is in the Destination Location:
    • has been picked and delivered to the forward or staging location;
    • the pick ticket items have been Pick Finished

In a Pick/Pack Wave:

  • Inventory that is in your Transit Locations:
    • has been picked from its Original Location but not yet delivered to its Destination Location (the dock or packing station);
    • the pick ticket items have been Pick Started but not Pick Finished
  • Inventory that is in the Destination Locations:
    • has been picked and delivered to its Destination Location;
    • the pick ticket items have been Pick Finished
    • Some inventory may remain at the Destination Location (dock or packing station) after the wave has been completed. Inventory may be left at the packing station because it was rejected by the packer during the packing progress, or because the sales order was removed from the wave after the inventory was picked and delivered to the packing station. Inventory left at the packing station after the wave has been completed must be processed appropriately, for example it may be bin transferred back to a bulk storage location.

To run reports against inventory:

  • Select Reports>Quantity by Location. The report displays a single record for each Location. Highlight the location and click View iconView to see detailed information about the inventory items in this location.

    OR

  • Create an inventory manager that has a Filtering for Location of the location(s) you are interested in. (Remember that inventory managers allow you to sort, filter, and report on subsets of on hand inventory.) View the inventory manager to see detailed information about the individual inventory items in this location.

To view inventory in transit:

  • Select your Transit Location when running reports against inventory.

    For example, at the end of every shift, your Transit Locations should be empty because pickers are no longer in the middle of picking goods.

To view inventory at staging locations:

  • Select your forward or staging locations when running reports against inventory.

    For example, after you have fulfilled the sales orders, your staging location should be empty.

To view inventory at packing stations:

  • Select your dock or packing station locations when running reports against inventory.

    For example, after your carrier has picked up all the packages, your packing stations should be empty because all the goods have left the warehouse.
