Closing a package

When all of the items in a package have been picked and delivered to the packing station, you can pack the items and close the package. Closing the package tells the system that the package has been physically packed and sealed. Closing the package has the following effects:

Closing the packages is an optional step between packing the items and closing the bill of lading. (If needed, you can also reopen a closed package as long as the bill of lading is still in a Status of In Progress.)

To close a package on a bill of lading:

  1. In the Packages table, locate the package(s) you want to close.
    • Each package must have a Status of Ready in order to be closed. The Ready status indicates that all of the items in this package have been picked and delivered to the packing station.
  2. Check the checkbox next to the package(s) you want to close. Select Close SO iconClose Package from the toolbar of the table.
  3. The package Status changes to Closed. You can no longer make any changes to the contents of the package, such as assigning items to a different package. You can still edit the package information, such as the Dim Wt or Tracking #.
  4. Select Save or Save and Continue Editing to save your changes.
