Fulfill sales orders: pick to staging

When all of your picking is complete, all of the inventory required by this wave of work is sitting in your forward or staging location. Now you are ready to fulfill your sales orders.

To confirm that all of your picking is complete:

  1. Select Wave Fulfillment>Pick Plans.
  2. Locate the pick plan for this wave, either by PiP #, Wave #, or another field.
  3. Verify that the Status of the pick plan is Closed.

To fulfill your sales orders after a Pick to Staging Wave is complete:

You have several options for how to fulfill your sales orders:

  • Create a shipment for each sales order, one sales order at a time. This option is the simplest option and works well if you have a relatively low number of orders per wave.
    1. From Fulfillment>Ship Sales Orders, locate the sales orders with this Wave #.
    2. For each sales order, highlight the sales order and select View from the toolbar of the list.
    3. Locate the Current Pick Policy. If this policy is not one that looks specifically at the staging location, check Override Current Policy and find a pick policy that does.
    4. Click Ship to create a shipment for this sales order. Then Ship the shipment to close it and remove the inventory from your warehouse. See Shipping a sales order for more information.

  • Create a shipment for each sales order, for all sales orders in this wave. This option works well if you have a larger number of orders per wave, but you still want to individually examine each shipment before the inventory leaves the warehouse.
    1. From Fulfillment>Batch Ship Sales Orders, locate the sales orders with this Wave #. Select all of these sales orders and choose Add to Action.
    2. On the Action tab, in the Override SO Pick Policies selector, locate a pick policy that selects goods only from the staging location. From the Available box, highlight the pick policy you want and use the arrows to move it to the Selected box.
    3. Select Batch Create Shipments. Then Ship each shipment to close it and remove the inventory from your warehouse. See Creating shipments from sales orders in batch for more information.

  • Create and ship a shipment for each sales order, for all sales orders in this wave. This option works well if you have a larger number of orders per wave, and want all of the inventory to leave the warehouse immediately.
    3. Select Batch Ship. The shipments are created and shipped (closed) and the inventory leaves your warehouse immediately. See Shipping sales orders in batch for more information.

  • Create a Pick/Pack Wave and create a pack plan and bills of lading for all sales orders in this wave. This option is more involved than the other options. It works well if you have a larger number of orders per wave and want to combine several orders in each fulfillment document (bill of lading). However, you may prefer just to create a Pick/Pack Wave (and not create a Pick to Staging Wave at all).
    1. From Wave Fulfillment>Pending Sales Orders, search for the sales orders with this Wave #.
    2. Select Pick/Pack.
    3. See Creating waves of work: pick/pack for more information.
