Removing a sales order from a wave

Sometimes you need to remove a sales order from the wave. This could happen if your sales order is being fulfilled in a Pick/Pack Wave or in a Batch Shipping process (see Types of wave processing). For example, if the customer calls and demands that the order be expedited, delayed, or cancelled, you may need to remove the sales order from the wave and initiate a different business process.

To remove a sales order from a wave:

  1. Select Ordering>Sales Orders.
  2. A list of sales orders appears. This list includes all of the sales orders in the system, not just those currently being processed.
  3. Locate the sales order that you need to remove. For example, you can filter the list based on SO #, Ship to customer, or Wave #.
  4. Highlight the sales order and select View from the toolbar above the list.
  5. The sales order view page appears. At the bottom of the page, select Remove from Wave. This has the following effects:
    • If there are any open shipments fulfilling this sales order:
      • Shipments with a Status of Saved become Cancelled. The inventory remains in its original location (for example, bulk storage) and is no longer allocated to the shipment.
    • If there are any open pick tickets fulfilling this sales order:
      • Pick ticket lines with a Status of Saved become Cancelled. The inventory remains in its original location (for example, bulk storage) and is no longer allocated to the pick ticket or the pick plan.
      • Pick ticket lines with a Status of Started report an error when you try to remove the sales order from the wave. You cannot remove a sales order from a wave while goods are in the process of being transferred to the packing station.
    • If there are any open bills of lading fulfilling this sales order:
      • All of the goods that have already been picked and delivered to the packing station for this sales order are rejected from this bill of lading and returned to inventory.

        - The Qty Avail to Pack for each BOL item is reduced by the amount of the sales order item. (If an entire BOL item is for this sales order, the Qty Avail to Pack is reduced to 0.) Any inventory that was picked for this sales order remains at the Destination Location (packing station). It is no longer allocated. You can return it to its storage location manually using a bin transfer.

      • All of the goods that are supposed to be packed for this sales order are removed from this bill of lading.

        - The Qty to Pack for each BOL item is reduced by the amount of the sales order item. (If an entire BOL item is for this sales order, the Qty to Pack is reduced to 0.)

      • Togther, rejecting the "already picked" goods and removing the "supposed to be picked" goods from this bill of lading means that nothing on the bill of lading is fulfilling this sales order anymore. The bill of lading can be closed.
    • There is no change for any shipments, pick tickets, or bills of lading that have a Status of Closed. In other words, if any inventory has already been picked and delivered to a different location, or if any inventory has already left the warehouse, removing the sales order from the wave does not effect any of this already completed work.
