Reporting on serial #s for kits
If you use components and products that are serialized, you may use the assign components function to associate specific component items and by-product items with each product item.
This is helpful for visibility: you can view which Serial #s from which component items went into making which product item with which Serial #. For example:
- To find all of the components for an assembled item with a particular serial #:
- Select Kitting Manager>Kit Component Items List.
- From the toolbar at the top of the page, select Filter: Product Serial #. (If you do not see the Product Line # and Product Serial # columns, you may need to customize them onto your page.) Enter the Serial # of the assembled item (product) and choose Filter.
- The screen refreshes, and the list displays all of the component items that were used in assembling the product item with this serial number.
- To find the product assembled with a particular component serial #:
- Select Kitting Manager>Kit Component Items List.
- From the toolbar at the top of the page, select Filter: Serial #. (If you do not see the Serial # column, you may need to customize it onto your page.) Enter the Serial # of the component item and choose Filter.
- The screen refreshes, and the list displays just the component item with this serial number.
- Double-click the component item from the list, or highlight and select
View. The kit displays. - On the View Kit page, look in the Component Items table for the component with this serial number. The Product Line # field for this component tells you which product this component became part of. (If you do not see the Product Line # column, you may need to customize it onto your page.) Look in the Items to Produce table for that line number to find the product.
